The time has come. I am off to Japan for 21 days. I leave the 27th of May and return the 17th of June. I have a rail pass, a rental cell phone, my first two nights in a hostel reserved and a loose plan. I arrive in Tokyo and will be traveling as far south as I can (Kagoshima) and then as far north as I can (Wakkanai). At these two places I plan on releasing some of my mom's ashes into the ocean. In between, I plan to see things I know she would enjoy: gardens, art, music, the train station whose master is a cat, the largest Buddha, geisha, temples (some of which I can stay and mediate with monks), shrines and of course SUSHI.
I am going along, but know I will be walking with her the whole time. I have encased some of her ashes in 1/2" flame worked glass marbles, likened after the ojo rojo character that we developed, but with Geisha style hair.
If how I made this sounded like gibberish to you, please watch the following short video.
I am also very pleased to announce that I have finally completed and published the drawings I began with my mom about Ojo Rojo and his Adventures at blurb.com. Please goto:

and buy a book. It will help defray my costs. It's a great book for any young child in your life or anyone that needs to be reminded to enjoy the simple happinesses in life. On my journey I will be making new drawings for the sequel.
Please follow and make comments as it will help me feel connected to those of you at home and whom loved my mom. I am looking forward to this very spiritual journey.
Thank You All
Jenna
I am so happy that you have started this beautiful journey!!! I can't wait to buy the book too!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have landed safely in Japan. Know that you are loved by many and we are all with you!! Hugs
Two copies of the book are on order, want to share the story with my grandchildren...but more importantly I am eager to share your journey vicariously. Just talking with Laurie about her idea of a journey through Japan brought her such joy...may this journey bring smiles to you! Love, Paula
ReplyDeleteWhat a treat it has been, dear Jenna, to follow your trip with your Mom in Japan. I read your delightful entries and sense that you are getting all you had hoped for and quite a bit more.I know you will bring back even more wonderful stories and I look forward to hearing them. The pictures are great! I am away until the 21st but then back for pretty much the rest of the summer.
